Demystifying systems to help physicians gain a deeper understanding of how to navigate and influence individuals within a large, complex environment. Through organizational simulation, reflective exercises and conversation, physicians will gain understanding of the systems’ components and of the leadership role they can play in addressing systemic challenges.
Learning outcomes:
- Examine the complexities and challenges within the Canadian health system.
- Discuss strategies to effectively navigate challenges and respond to them.
- Practice sense-making to guide decisions in simple, complicated, complex and chaotic systems.
- Apply skills to influence individuals’ and systems’ patterns that make them resistant to systemic change.
- Use systems thinking as a framework for managing organizational and systemic change
